Linux on S/390: It's all about Applications

Abstract:
The presentation starts with a brief introduction of Linux and the Linux Distributions for S/390. Next, the different implementation options and particularities (e.g. Hipersockets) are discussed as well as the possibilities to connect to, and administer the Linux system. Finally, a number of applications running on Linux/390 are introduced.
Bio:
Jan has over 20 years experience in IT. He started his career as a systems engineer working with DB and TP systems in a large telecom company in Belgium. He worked for several years as a consultant in service companies. In this role he was involved in many projects in different domains including operating system, networking, migrations etc... He also worked for an ISV specialized in Performance and Availability Management. For last three years, he has been working for Jeeves Systems Group as a Business Development Consultant. Amongst his tasks is the follow-up of innovative solutions on the mainframe and evaluation, together with his colleagues, of the usability of these new technologies in the mainframe processing environment.
